Jamaican Journey 2011

Mon, 07/25/2011 - 4:20pm -- Rob

Overseas mission trips are commonly times where God develops both the missionary and the people ministered to along the way. That was true for each of the 18 members of OnSite International's inaugural Jamaican Journey and for many the team prayed for and ministered to last week in Mango Valley and Wallingford, Jamaica. In fact, many on the team, who had traveled to Jamaica on previous mission trips, shared that they'd never see God do as much as he did this past week.

The team; made up of thirteen members from Lifepointe Church in Carmel, IN, two from Wisconsin, two from North Carolina, and one from Florida, prayer walked in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, led Vacation Bible School (VBS) at churches in Mango Valley and Wallingford, and led two wildly impacting youth events Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A number of Jamaican students accepted Christ at the youth rallies in Mango Valley following messages by our youth leader and personal testimonies by the youth on OnSite International's team.

God brought great unity amongst the team throughout the week. While doing so, He also introduced us to a missionary family that moved to Mango Valley just three weeks ago. They quickly joined us in participating in the youth events. Even their youngest children, ages 14, 12, and 10, jumped in with talking to Jamaican youth and pointing them to the Lord! We were encouraged to meet and serve with them, and we're excited to have another year-round connection on the ground there!

OnSite's team passed out over 160 Bibles to youth in VBS classes in Wallingford, as well as adults asking for Bibles as we traveled about. OnSite International was also able to provide a new sound amplifier to Maranatha Church in Mango Valley. Their existing one had many electrical shorts in it and was hazardous on many levels.

There are many additional stories that could be shared here, but I'll keep this update brief.

Thank you for praying for our Jamaican team, for OnSite International, and for your financial support!

If you would like to send a financial gift to continue OnSite's worldwide prayer walking, discipleship, church development, and evangelistic work, please go to www.prayonsite.org to give online.

It's a great day to pray!
